Olga Mul - Who’s that woman

Olga Mul - Who’s that woman

Recycle Reuse Repurpose
by Tsitaliya Mircheva

It’s a coat season and we are beyond excited to introduce to you a new talented designer featured in our online boutique. She is a master artisan of exotic hand embroidered, cotton and wool coats, silk caftans, dresses and vests. Olga Mul was born in Ukraine, but lives and works in Italy and was recently featured in Elle Magazine, Italy, for the second time. Graduated from Marangoni Fashion Institute in Milan, Olga has always worked in and for fashion, but she wanted to build a sustainable brand, reusing, recycling and repurposing old clothes and fabrics.

Inspired by her endless fantasies and desire to travel to faraway places around the world Olga started creating some really cool bohemian, nomadic -style coats and kaftans. Their contemporary design, often oversized cocooning shape, appealed immediately to some of the fashion editors in Europe who showed them off on their Instagram and during Fashion Week on the streets of Milan. Her style is defined as “de-luxe nomadism”, and her way of making fashion sustainable and human.

Using natural hemp fabric, known as one of most durable, versatile and planet friendly fabrics used by innovators in fashion, Olga is also collecting old clothes and sofa fabrics together with her children, which she describes as family therapy, especially during the first time quarantine in Milan this year. She is creating unique patterns, hand sewing and Ikat dying the fabrics.

Olga wears her own pieces all the time, from Sankt Moritz to Forte Dei Marmi. Each piece has a story and stands out with its unique feminine design and exotic prints, distilled by the fashion designer wise eye, who doesn’t let her garments fall into any cliche. Not one coat is the same as the previous. Each garment is one of a kind and cannot be remade.
