Injiri was founded in 2009 by Chinar Farooqui with the desire to create long lasting relationship with Indian textiles through her work and ongoing exploration in regional techniques.

What impressed ByAdushka about this brand is that it believes in the beauty of the handweaving process and focuses on textile development and sustainable use of materials.

Each piece of this brand has a story to tell; the artisans like to explore without defining how the textiles will end up as a product and enjoy the journey of the processes. Rather than being dictated by fashion and trends, the design language is derived from learning and studying ethnic traditions from around the world.

It is no coincidence that the injiri forms come from a range of inspirations. Some are closer to the weaving clusters they work with, others to antique garments that have become obsolete. The simplest garments worn by peasants, farmers and ordinary people are the most inspiring.

The “handmade” quality in antique pieces is very evident and we are constantly inspired by such craftsmanship. The result is a mix of sustainable, unique and distinctive home and clothing items.
